Committee Topics

This committee focuses on the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which was formally established in 1980 during a period of political realignment following the dissolution of the Janata Party coalition government. Built on the ideological foundations of its predecessor, the Bharatiya Jana Sangh (1951), the BJP entered the political landscape at a moment marked by public dissatisfaction with prior governance, widening divisions, and the lingering effects of the Emergency. Delegates will examine this transitional setting to address the party’s internal cohesion, organizational structure, and strategies for national expansion. The committees’ core focus is on analyzing unification strategies in a post-independence era that could enable the BJP to emerge as a coherent and credible political force amid competing visions for India’s future and changing electoral dynamics.
